Ngassa Kuibeba ama Kuiponza Yanga?

      Raundi 6- J' Mosi,28,2013
      Uwanja wa Taifa, Dar
      Saa Kumi jioni.

Je,Ngassa ataweza kufanya kile alichoshindwa kufanya Suarez Jumatano?

Azam Victory Over Yanga Vindicated Stewart Hall's Faith in Youngsters

Stewart Hall (R) with Club Chairman, Said Bakhressa
On Sunday, Stewart Hall cruelly put to an end Yanga's four consecutive victories against his side  with a late killer blow delivered by second half  substitute, league debutant and U-20 youngster Joseph Kimwaga. In a match neither side wanted a draw nor could they afford a loss, it was Azam's Stewart Hall bold gamble of fielding three youngsters that ultimately paid off.

It was not an easy victory for Azam despite scoring an early goal through their returning from injury skipper, John Bocco in the first minute. In his post match interview, Hall acknowledged the difficulties, " Two different games, two different results...today the best team lost, its football". Yanga dominated possession but Azam got the result, a reversal of fortune to their last encounter in the Community Shield match.

The match was a pressure-cooker for both sides having each picked maximum points on one occasion only in four outings but Stewart Hall deemed it appropriate to trust three youngsters for the epic battle. Having lost four consecutive matches against the Jangwani side, it took something special in him to throw the three kids in the must-win tie. The pressure on him was immense, the management wanted results, they have invested a lot in the club, maximum points was the only thing that mattered on Sunday. His job insurance depended on the outcome of Sunday's results.

Prior to the match, the club posted a press release in the the club's official website blaming the players for the poor results, nothing was mentioned about the coach. But one can only imagine what was going behind the scene, it is hard not think that heads were about to roll. The heat was too much, someone was going to be fried and the coach could have been the likeliest candidate. In his post-match interview, the British coach  spoke like someone who was finally exhaling, he spoke of the midweek poor results. " We played very badly against Ashanti United, it was our worst performance in my two-year stay with the club" .

Hall has come to be known as a tough coach who is never afraid to make tough decisions that would raise eyebrows. Last season he kept benching Mrisho Ngassa amid public outcry and media onslaught. Despite the crucification he  kept insisting Ngassa was complacent and would only field him if he works hard. On Sunday, he did the same, this time it was the untouchable duo of Ivorian hitman, Kipre Tchetche and Salum Abubakar 'Sure Boy'. He benched the duo together with three other regular starters to make five changes to the squad that could only manage a draw with the league whipping boys, Ashanti United.

Even Mwadini Ally was not spared, Aishi Manula the promising young goalkeeper was trusted ahead of the veteran custodian for the crucial tie. These were bold changes, a statement of intent to the complacent players. Everything could have gone wrong with this risky approach and he would surely have paid with his head. Had they lost on Sunday it is safe to assume the axe would have been wielded against him.

His trust on the three youngsters, Aishi Manula, Farid Musa and Joseph Kimwaga paid off. Manula superb goalkeeping kept the score in favour of Azam. He pulled off exceptional saves time and time again to deny Yanga victory in what could have been a disastrous result for the Chamazi side. The young goalkeeper was on top of his game, he paid in full the debt of trust and faith extended to him by his coach. He vindicated his coach. To cap it all his second half substitute, Joseph Kimwaga delivered the sucker punch to grab victory with arguably the last kick of the game. This was full vindication

Cheap fabricated stories are emerging that he never trusts academy players, he has no faith in them and was only forced to play them by the management. We all remember Hall was sacked last year for sticking to his own decision.  Hall is his own man to the last bone. No one is going to force him to grant playing time to a payer if he feels is not ready. He demonstrated that with Ngassa last year by not bowing down to public and media pressure.

The same management that sacked him for not heeding to their advice and later on pleaded with him to re-join the club cannot make the same mistake. What makes that argument more silly is the fact that the same coach has shown trust in another youngster, Aishi Manula.  Was he also forced to play Aishi Manula? He offloaded Deogratius Munishi 'Dida' to give Manula a chance to play, something that he has done even on big matches.

The same coach who is accused of lacking faith in academy players has twice granted Manula, an academy player, a starting place in matches against Yanga. During the pre-season period while on a 10-day tour of South Africa,he was quoted stating that he will drop Mwadini Ally for the youngster, a promise he has kept so far. As if that is not enough, Hall could have gone on a signing spree given Azam fat cheque book but chose to promote the same youth players he is accused of lacking faith in. He could have sign any player he wanted from Tanzania, Kenya, Uganda or Zambia but rather chose to promote three academy players.

He gambled with the youth and now when he is about to be vindicated people who have been a part of our football problems for so long want to discredit him.It sounds so silly and hollow to accuse him of lacking faith and a distrust in academy players.Who is going to buy that silly argument? Please if one wants us to swallow lies, show us some respect by giving us palatable lies.

Mbeya City Slow Down Simba Acceleration

Round 5-Sat, Sept 21,2013
 National Stadium,Dar
 Referee:Abdallah Kambuzi

Newly promoted Mbeya City Council came from behind to settle to a 2-2 draw with Simba Sc  in a box-to-box encounter played at the National Stadium in Dar on Saturday afternoon. However the stalemate leaves Simba at the summit of the Vodacom Premiership log with eleven points.

Burundian import, Amissi Tambwe completed his brace within five minutes to give the hosts a two  goal lead mid-way into the first half .

Right from the first whistle, Mbeya City took the game to Simba, calmly maintaining possession in front of the league veterans. Both sides failed to convert their chances with Mbeya city custodian pulling up wonderful saves to keep the deadlock.

Simba punished the visitors for failing to take their chances, opening the scoring through Tambwe who connected home Haroun Chanongo's for his fifth goal of the season. Tambwe completed his brace in just five minutes when he thumped home a rebound for his sixth goal of the season.

However the councillors from Mbeya did not take matters lying low, they managed to reduce the deficit within minutes when Paul Nonga connected home Kabanda's cross in the 37th minute.

Simba squandered a great opportunity to to restore their two goals cushion when Betram Mombeki failed to utilize Chanongo's cross with two minutes to the breather.

The Msimbazi Reds came out strong after the break but it was the visitors who made the most of their chance when Richard Peter found the back of the net from a well-orchestrated set piece that involved three players, one pulling up a dummy move before the second one passed the ball to the goal scorer.

Both sides had opportunities to add to their tally but kept squandering their chances coupled with superb goalkeeping from both keepers to keep the score at 2-2 till the final whistle.

Match Preview: Mbeya City Daring To Stop Simba Sc

Match 5- Sat, September,2013
National Stadium,Dar.16:00 EAT

After Wednesday's 6-0 annihilation of Mgambo Shooting Msimbazi Reds will be looking forward to their fourth consecutive win as they host newly promoted Mbeya City in the Vodacom Premiership at the Nation Stadium this afternoon.

Simba are at the summit of the Vodacom Premiership log after dislodging JKT Ruvu who lost to Ruvu Shooting. With no injuries concern to key players, coach Abdallah Kibadeni will have a full house to select from. The side has only conceded two goals and scored ten in the process. The defensive partnership of Joseph Owino and Gilbert Kaze has effectively shielded Abel Dhaira. The partnership is yet to soak in a goal, emerging as the best defensive pairing in the league so far. Kibadeni is not expected to tinker with it.

The midfield department seems to be a hot zone for competition, only Jonas Mkude,Haroun Chanongo and Amri Kiemba seems to be assured of a starting place. The capture of Henry Joseph and Abdulhalim Humud means Simba have plenty of midfield to rely on. Kibadeni has tinkered with his midfield in all matches.

In the attacking department, the partnership of Betram Mwombeki and Burundian striker-on-fire, Amissi Tambwe is getting sharper and hungry for goals each match. The Burundian import became the first player to score a hat-trick after two years without one, he scored four goals in the 6-0 routing of Mgambo Shooting.

Simba's next three opponents are army sides, JKT Ruvu and Ruvu Shooting (Both away, but played in Dar) and Tanzania Prisons (Home).

Mbeya City are yet to lose a match and will depend on the backing of the huge Mbeya 'diaspora' to cheer them to victory or another draw. Coach Juma Mwambusi knows a draw will be a credible result but given Simba's hot form he will have to set up his side very carefully.

The councillors' next three opponents are Coastal Union (Home), JKT Oljoro and Rhino Rangers (Both away).

Simba's Line up in their 6-0 win over Mgambo Shooting: Abel Dhaira, Miraj Adam(William Lucian), Issa Rashid, Kaze Gilbert, Joseph Owino, Jonas Mkude, Amri Kiemba, Henry Joseph(Ramadhani Chombo) , Betram Mombeki, Amisi Tambwe, Haroun Chanongo.

Confident Yanga Aiming For A Second Win against Tanzania Prisons

TANZANIA PRISONS
YANGA

Match 4-Wed Sept 18, 16:00
Sokoine Memorial Stadium

Tanzania Prisons will be targeting a first Vodacom Premiership win of the season  when they host defending Champions, Yanga at the Sokoine memorial stadium in Mbeya.

Tanzania Prisons are placed second from the bottom having lost their first two matches and drawn once. The police side have recently lost their competitive edge that saw them swimming in the relegation zone for much of last season despite avoiding the drop.

Their unimpressive form has seen them lose the local support that has shifted to newly promoted Mbeya City who held Yanga to a 1-1 draw last weekend in front of a record crowd. Their coach Jummane Charles assisted by Oswald Morris know he must soon start getting results to avoid fighting another relegation battle.

Their next three opponents are Mtibwa Sugar and Azam (Both Home ) and Mgambo Shooting (Away).

Yanga who have drawn their last two matches will go into this tie knowing they have to win to stay in touch with league leaders, JKT Ruvu and arch-rivals Simba. They will be looking to put behind the recent crowd troubles that have marked their last two matches.

The return of  influential midfielder, Haruna Niyonzima will spark up their engine box that seemed to falter last weekend. Said Bahanuzi may also give way for Jerson Tegete who gave an impressive performance after his second half introduction.

Yanga next three opponents are Azam( Away), Ruvu Shooting and Mtibwa Sugar (Both home)

Head-to-head Stat: A brace from Jerson Tegete and a goal from Mbuyu Twite gave Yanga a comfortable 3-1 victory over the police side. Their first match ended in a barren draw at Sokoine stadium.

Yanga's line upin their 1-1 draw with Mbeya City:Ally Mustapha, Mbuyu Twite, David Luhende, Nadir Haroub, Kevin Yondan, Athumani Iddi, Nizar Khalfan(Jerson Tegete 59'), Frank Domayo, Didier Kavumbagu, Hussein Javu,Said Bahanuzi(Oscar Joshua 59').

Ligikuu Preview: Azam Fc in a Tricky Tie against Ashanti United

                                     Match 4- Wed 17 September, 16:00
                                              Azam  Chamazi Complex

After three rounds of  away matches that have resulted in two draws and a single victory Azam will be playing their first home match at their club-owned Chamazi complex. They will play host to Ashanti United who are yet to win a match.

Azam who are playing catch up to league leaders, JKT Ruvu cannot afford to fumble against this season whipping boys. They have to bag maximum points as they face a tough opponent in their next match. Injuries to key strikers, John Bocco and Brian Umony seems to be weighing down their striking department.

The Chamazi based outfit is placed fifth on the Vodacom Premiership log after three rounds of matches. Their next three fixtures see them take on Yanga (Home), Tanzania Prisons and Coastal Union (Both away)

Ashanti United will go in search of their  first Vodacom Premiership win of the season to avoid confirming their whipping boys status. A loss will pile pressure on coach Hassan Banyai and possibly moves him closer to the exit door.

Their next three fixtures see them take on Kagera Sugar (Away), Mtibwa Sugar (Home), Rhino Rangers (Away).

Azam;s line in their Previous match: Mwadini,Erasto Nyoni,Waziri Salum,Aggrey Morris,Jockins Otieno Atudo,Bolou Wilfred Michael,Jabir Aziz Stima (C),Sallum Abubakar Salum,Gaudence Mwaikimba,Kipre Tchetche,Mcha Khamisi Mcha

Yanga fight back to salvage a draw against Mbeya City

MBEYA CITY COUNCIL
YANGA
Match 3- 14 September,2013
Sokoine Memorial Stadium

Attendance:20,000
Gate Collections: Tsh100mn

                                                 MBEYA CITY 1-1 YANGA
       Mwagane Yeya 53'                                                                             Didier Kavumbagu

Burundian import, Didier Kavumbagu scored in a second successive league match to rescue  defending champions, Yanga from an embarrassing defeat to newly promoted side, Mbeya City Council in a pulsating encounter at the Sokoine memorial stadium in Mbeya.

Yanga made slight change to the squad that was forced to a one-all draw  by Coastal Union. Dutch tactician, Ernie Brandts, started with the Athumani Idd and Kelvin Yondani who were returning injuries. Nizar Khalfan also got a rare start in the midfield as Rwandan import, midfielder Haruna Niyonzima could not even make it to the bench due to a late arrival from international duties.

Despite fielding the attacking trio of Didier Kavumbagu, Hussein Javu and Said Bahanuzi, the defending Champions found themselves pinned back by the host. Both sides were guilty of missing several chances going to the first half-half break despite Mbeya City dominating proceedings.

The host appeared more invigorated after the restart and took only four minutes to break the deadlock. Mwagane Yeya was at the receiving end of a cross from Hassan Mwasapili and directed his his header at the back of the net in the 49th minute to silence the visitors fans who seemed to vastly outnumber the home fans.

The goal inspired Yanga fight back as they surged forward in numbers searching for an equalizer. The introduction of Jerson Tegete and Oscar Joshua added more urgency in Yanga's attack but the host defence seemed to hold their own till the last fifteen minutes. The Yanga wave of attacks appeared too strong for the City Councillors as Didier Kavumbagu connected home after work from the left fullback, David Luhende.

Backed by their army of supporters, Yanga continued to pile more pressure in search of the all-important winning goal that proved elusive till the last whistle. The result leaves both teams tied with five points with Yanga edging out the hosts on goal difference.

Yanga's Line up: Ally Mustapha, Mbuyu Twite, David Luhende, Nadir Haroub, Kevin Yondan, Athumani Iddi, Nizar Khalfan(Jerson Tegete 59'), Frank Domayo, Didier Kavumbagu, Hussein Javu,Said Bahanuzi(Oscar Joshua 59').

                                          SIMBA 2-0 MTIBWA SUGAR
( Goal Scorer: Henry Shindika 70', Betram Mwombeki 90')

Second half substitutes, Henry Joseph and Betram Mwombeki inspired Simba to a 2-0 Vodacom Premiership victory over Mtibwa Sugar at the National Stadium on Saturday everning. The victory pushes the Msimbazi street giants to second behind this season surprise league leaders, JKT Ruvu.

Simba showed early intention of revenging last season double defeats by attacking the Turiani based side from the first whistle. Constant attacks from Simba forced Mtibwa Sugar to resort to aggressive tactical fouls to reduce the flow of attacks in their danger zone. Burundian import, Amissi Tambwe was the victim as Mtibwa Sugar tried to to stop Simba constant forward surging.

However despite Simba constant attacks, Mtibwa Sugar had the first clear cut chance of the match that was not utilized by Vincent Barnabbas in the 10th minute.

Midway through the first half, the physical battles came to the forefront and Mtibwa's Masoud Mohamed pulled off a challenge on  Jonas Mkude that saw him become the first player booked

After the restart, Mtibwa Sugar coach, Mecky Mexime introduced former Simba striker, Mussa Hassan Mgosi for the fading Juma Luizio. Ten minute after the restart, Abdallah Kibadeni, Simba coach, followed suit by substituting Said Hamis for former captain, Henry Joseph who was making his league debut after his move from Norway side, Kongsvinger.

The substitution paid dividend for Simba as it was Henry Joseph who broke the deadlock in the 68th minute, by heading home Amri Kiemba's low cross.

Despite a spirited performance from Mtibwa that saw Shaban Kisiga come close to equalizing it was Simba who extend the lead in the dying minutes of the match to put the game beyond reach. It  was another second half introduction, Betram Mwombeki who nodded home after good work from Ramadhan Singano.

Mbeya City Targeting an Upset, Yanga up for Maximum Points

MBEYA CITY
YANGA

Match 3- Saturday, 14 Sept
Sokoine Stadium, Mbeya
1600hrs

Newly promoted Mbeya City will be targeting their second successive home win as they seek to upset Yanga in the Vodacom Premiership clash to be played at the Sokoine Stadium in Mbeya.

Mbeya City are yet to lose after two rounds of matches. They have won one and drawn the other against Kagera Sugar. Stakes have been upped by Philipo Mulugo who has promised to reward the new boys if they emerge victors against the defending champions.

They have been fortunate enough to play all their first three matches at home in front of a passionate  crowd. Their next three fixtures see them take Mtibwa Sugar and Simba (Both away) and Coastal Union (Home).

Defending league champions, Young Africans will be raring to bounce back after being denied victory in the last minute of the match against Tanga based side, Coastal Union. They began the league on a high note, thumping another promoted side, Ashanti United 5-1 in Dar.

The late arrival of Jangwani's favourite midfielder and Rwandan Import, Haruna Niyonzima coupled with the return from injuries of key players has uplifted the morale of the squad.

Young Africans cannot afford to lose as they face two tricky upcoming matches. They will battle against Tanzania Prisons four days later in the same venue before facing title-hungry Azam in Dar.

The two sides have never met before but Sokoine is a familiar ground to Young Africans. The visitors fans are expected to outnumber the home fans who have shifted their loyalty from supporting the disappointing army side, Tanzania Prisons to the new Councillors' boys.

World Cup Qualifier Match Preview: Gambia Vs Tanzania

Gambia
Tanzania

Match - Sat 7 September, 19:30 (EAT),   1630 (GMT)

Brazil 2014 World Cup Qualifier

Tanzania cannot qualify and Gambia will finish last no matter the outcome of the match. Nevertheless, both teams will head into this encounter looking for a morale-boosting win for various reasons. Tanzania will be aiming at finishing ahead of Morocco who are facing Ivory Coast. Two points behind Morocco, a win will take Taifa Stars to nine points while praying for The Elephants to crush The Atlas Lions.

Tanzania will also be trying to avoid a fifth back-to-back defeat that has sent them in a downward spiral in the FIFA ranking. The Danish tactician, Kim Poulsen knows nothing less than a win will restore the public enthusiasm for Taifa Stars. Poulsen will be without nine key players. The absence of his dependable striking duo of Mbwana Samatta and Thomas Ulimwengu has compounded his problems. The two were not released by TP Mazembe. The striking dilemma would probably mean he will start with three wingers hoping they will prove enough to emerge with a victory.

The Scorpions of Gambia will be searching for their first win to avoid the preliminary stage play-offs for the 2015 AFCON qualifiers. The newly elected FA will be hoping victory would provide a fresh start though a point would not be a big disappointment.
Head-to-Head Stat: The sides have only met once, Tanzania won 2-1 in Dar es Salaam in the year 2012.

Taifa Stars Probable XI: Juma Kaseja, Erasto Nyoni (Scored the winner in their previous encounter), Vincent Barnabas, Aggrey Morris, Nadir Haroub, Henry Joseph, Frank Domayo, Mrisho Ngassa,Simon Msuva, Amri Kiemba, Khamis Mcha

Player to Watch: Amri Kiemba, composed attacking midfielder who has proved to be a reliable goal scorer with two goals to his name. His goal against Morocco remain one of the best in this qualifying campaign.
Amri Kiemba
