Newly promoted Mbeya City Council came from behind to settle to a 2-2 draw with Simba Sc in a box-to-box encounter played at the National Stadium in Dar on Saturday afternoon.However the stalemate leaves Simba at the summit of the Vodacom Premiership log with eleven points.
Burundian import, Amissi Tambwe completed his brace within five minutes to give the hosts a two goal lead mid-way into the first half .
Right from the first whistle, Mbeya City took the game to Simba, calmly maintaining possession in front of the league veterans. Both sides failed to convert their chances with Mbeya city custodian pulling up wonderful saves to keep the deadlock.
Simba punished the visitors for failing to take their chances, opening the scoring through Tambwe who connected home Haroun Chanongo's for his fifth goal of the season. Tambwe completed his brace in just five minutes when he thumped home a rebound for his sixth goal of the season.
However the councillors from Mbeya did not take matters lying low, they managed to reduce the deficit within minutes when Paul Nonga connected home Kabanda's cross in the 37th minute.
Simba squandered a great opportunity to to restore their two goals cushion when Betram Mombeki failed to utilize Chanongo's cross with two minutes to the breather.
The Msimbazi Reds came out strong after the break but it was the visitors who made the most of their chance when Richard Peter found the back of the net from a well-orchestrated set piece that involved three players,one pulling up a dummy move before the second one passed the ball to the goal scorer.
Both sides had opportunities to add to their tally but kept squandering their chances coupled with superb goalkeeping from both keepers to keep the score at 2-2 till the final whistle.
