                                                 MBEYA CITY 1-1 YANGA
       Mwagane Yeya 53'                                                                             Didier Kavumbagu

Burundian import, Didier Kavumbagu scored in a second successive league match to rescue  defending champions, Yanga from an embarrassing defeat to newly promoted side, Mbeya City Council in a pulsating encounter at the Sokoine memorial stadium in Mbeya.

Yanga made slight change to the squad that was forced to a one-all draw  by Coastal Union. Dutch tactician, Ernie Brandts, started with the Athumani Idd and Kelvin Yondani who were returning injuries. Nizar Khalfan also got a rare start in the midfield as Rwandan import, midfielder Haruna Niyonzima could not even make it to the bench due to a late arrival from international duties.

Despite fielding the attacking trio of Didier Kavumbagu, Hussein Javu and Said Bahanuzi, the defending Champions found themselves pinned back by the host. Both sides were guilty of missing several chances going to the first half-half break despite Mbeya City dominating proceedings.

The host appeared more invigorated after the restart and took only four minutes to break the deadlock. Mwagane Yeya was at the receiving end of a cross from Hassan Mwasapili and directed his his header at the back of the net in the 49th minute to silence the visitors fans who seemed to vastly outnumber the home fans.

The goal inspired Yanga fight back as they surged forward in numbers searching for an equalizer. The introduction of Jerson Tegete and Oscar Joshua added more urgency in Yanga's attack but the host defence seemed to hold their own till the last fifteen minutes. The Yanga wave of attacks appeared too strong for the City Councillors as Didier Kavumbagu connected home after work from the left fullback, David Luhende.

Backed by their army of supporters, Yanga continued to pile more pressure in search of the all-important winning goal that proved elusive till the last whistle. The result leaves both teams tied with five points with Yanga edging out the hosts on goal difference.
