World Cup Qualifier Match Preview: Gambia Vs Tanzania

Gambia
Tanzania

Match - Sat 7 September, 19:30 (EAT),   1630 (GMT)

Brazil 2014 World Cup Qualifier

Tanzania cannot qualify and Gambia will finish last no matter the outcome of the match. Nevertheless, both teams will head into this encounter looking for a morale-boosting win for various reasons. Tanzania will be aiming at finishing ahead of Morocco who are facing Ivory Coast. Two points behind Morocco, a win will take Taifa Stars to nine points while praying for The Elephants to crush The Atlas Lions.

Tanzania will also be trying to avoid a fifth back-to-back defeat that has sent them in a downward spiral in the FIFA ranking. The Danish tactician, Kim Poulsen knows nothing less than a win will restore the public enthusiasm for Taifa Stars. Poulsen will be without nine key players. The absence of his dependable striking duo of Mbwana Samatta and Thomas Ulimwengu has compounded his problems. The two were not released by TP Mazembe. The striking dilemma would probably mean he will start with three wingers hoping they will prove enough to emerge with a victory.

The Scorpions of Gambia will be searching for their first win to avoid the preliminary stage play-offs for the 2015 AFCON qualifiers. The newly elected FA will be hoping victory would provide a fresh start though a point would not be a big disappointment.
